Pregnancy Courses & Classes Northamptonshire

Welcome to Mindful Beginnings! I am a fully qualified midwife and proud Mindful Birth Group® associate, with over 17 years of experience in the field. As a professional midwife and mother, I understand the complexities of pregnancy and childbirth more than most, and how it can often be a stressful time for expectant mothers.
However, I believe that every pregnancy should be an enjoyable experience, full of excitement; free from stress or anxiety. This ethos is one of the many reasons why Mindful Beginnings was brought to fruition, and I take immense pride in the services I have worked so hard to make happen, and the happy mothers, couples and families I have helped along the way.
I offer a broad spectrum of in person and online antenatal, hypnobirthing and birth preparation courses suitable for mothers, couples and families from all walks of life; perfect for both vaginal and abdominal births (caesarean). Specialising in mindfulness, all of the courses and services provided at Mindful Beginnings are fully informed by the teachings on the Mindful Birth Group® syllabus, designed to support expectant parents through their pregnancies, and prepare them both physically and emotionally for birth.
At Mindful Beginnings we support pregnant women, partners and families in their choices, encourage them to trust their instincts and empower them with knowledge.

Professional Experience
With over 20 years experience, I've focused my midwifery career in antenatal care. I've worked in a variety of settings, starting my career in community-based and antenatal clinic roles, before obtaining a specialist midwife role in Antenatal and Newborn screening and fetal medicine.
I have always wanted every woman to have a positive experience of birth, whether by Caesarean section or homebirth. My focus on communication has enabled me to support women in their choices.
In April 2021 I began studying with Expectancy, the leading provider of accredited complementary therapy courses for midwives. With Expectancy I undertook a Certificate in Midwifery Hypnosis, which incorporated mindfulness and phobias.
In 2022 I became a Mindful Birth® associate and am so proud to be able to offer this syllabus and truley believe in the techniques that I teach on this course.
I believe pregnancy and birth are normal life events which require a partnership between the woman and the midwife to achieve safe and effective care choices within maternity services. I am passionate about giving high quality care, through individualised support, to increase your choices during your maternity care.
Why I Became a Midwife
After having two children, once I felt it was the right time for me to focus on my career, I trained to be a midwife. I originally started as a healthcare assistant, but fell in love with the role of the midwife as I felt I could provide physical and emotional support to women during their pregnancy, labour and postnatal period.
I trained in Norfolk and remained there for 7 years, before relocating to the Channel Islands for 4 years. I returned to the UK in 2017 to spend more time with my grandson, and am now based in Northamptonshire.
What I Offer
As an affiliate and member of the Mindful Birth Group I am fortunate to teach the Mindful Birth® syllabus, a unique course which caters for every possible birth scenario.
Mindful Birth® courses are unique because they are not just about hypnobirthing techniques. They are about educating women and parents to feel confident and empowered, however they plan to meet, or end up meeting their baby.
Mindful Birth® courses bring these two concepts, Hypnobirthing and Mindfulness together, to prepare mums and parents by focusing on the mind-body connection, helping them to focus on what is in their control, and let go of what is not.
Specialist Sessions Include:
* Antenatal classes
* Abdominal Birth classes
* Mindfulness sessions for anxiety, stress and positive thinking
* Hypnotherapy for a range of conditions including: stopping smoking, breech, nausea and vomiting
I look forward to working with you and equipping you with the knowledge and skills to take control of your birthing experience.
Fully insured through FEDANT (Federation of Antenatal Educators) and the RCM, with a valid DBS certificate to enable work with families.
